10 Worst Villains Of Rock And Roll Music

2. Johnny Rotten

By the time the punk revolution was in full swing, there were already people wanting to stomp it out of the cultural zeitgeist. Whereas acts like Ramones and The Clash had the energy that punk needed to thrive, the lack of musical ability had people thinking that rock and roll was regressing back to something a lot less interesting than the first wave. Though those acts had something to back them up, it doesn't help when you have someone like Johnny Rotten as your spokesman.

With the Sex Pistols being virtually handpicked by producer Malcolm McLaren, a lot of what made Rotten famous was just coming from the outlandish things that he would say on television, looking to get his star made through sheer shock factor. When you listened to the records though, time has only been crueler to these topics, with songs like Bodies advocating for anti-abortion sentiments that hits a really sour note in today's modern times.

Even into the next few decades, Rotten has done everything he can to try and stir something up with the next round of punks coming his way, with Billie Joe Armstrong going so far as to call him a grandmother of punk rock. Then again, when you have this kind of whiny agenda from one day to the next, it's not like Mr. Armstrong doesn't have a point here.
