11 Incredible Bands Ignored By The Mainstream Music Press

4. Dinosaur Pile-Up

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXPknKmYsh8 Dinosaur Pile-Up started as the brainchild of Leeds native Matt Bigland, whose abundant love for all things rock, grunge, metal, and alternative inspired him to write and record a whole album of material that fit into all of those categories. 2010's 'Growing Pains' did exactly what it said on the tin, and despite the clear cut ambition from Bigland and frankly phenomenal standard of songs, it failed to light up the world. Bigland also faced constant lineup changes to a band which was essentially becoming his own futile solo project. Step forward into 2014, and having soldiered on, DPU are now a cemented trio of Bigland, former Tribes bassist Jim Cratchley and ex-Brownies drummer Mike Sheils. Having released second album 'Nature Nurture', which serves to continue the love-in with meaty rock 'n' roll music, the band have since played Reading & Leeds, toured America twice, and headlined London's Scala. They may not be reinventing the wheel, but given that 'Nature Nurture' is as good as any grunge rock album to date (and yes that's including 'Nevermind', 'Ten', 'Purple', and 'Superunknown' in that list), then who the hell cares?
