RATKING

hip hop/experimental/hardcore In folklore a rat king is a phenomena that comes about when a number of rats become intertwined at their tails by way of the delicious adhesive concoction of blood, dirt, ice and excrement. These rats grow together, spawn numerous superstitions, become bad omens and generally bring plagues with them. That€™s folklore though. In music RATKING are a four member experimental hip hop collective from Harlem, New York. Though just because they€™re not actual rats tied together at the tail, it doesn€™t mean the music they make is any less filth encrusted than their namesakes in folklore. Comprised of main mouthpiece Wiki, producer Sporting Life, MC Hak and €˜visual expert€™ Ramon, the foursome describe themselves as Wu-Tang Clan meets Suicide. Having recently supported Death Grips over here in the UK, they€™ll soon be starting work on their debut album back in New York. The result is likely to be intense, intelligent and angry with soundscapes spawned from experimental electronics, beats and samples combined with flows that call to mind Pharoahe Monch and Eminem. http://youtu.be/8mP96khNdPM facebook twitter
