12 '80s Hard Rock Albums All Fans Should Own

6. Too Fast For Love - Mötley Crüe

'Too Fast For Love' was LA party animals' Mötley Crüe's debut album. Originally released on an independent label, it was remixed by Roy Thomas Baker, who'd previously worked with Queen, and got a new lease of life on Elektra Records. The big money record company injection enabled the band to make some videos for MTV which showcased them to perfection, and from then on the only way was up.

Hardcore fans may prefer the much rawer original mix of the album, but remixed or not, this is still the hardest edged sound that the band ever unleashed on vinyl. They had had taken their cue, both visually and sonically from a combo of UK glam bands - most notably Sweet, and the likes of Kiss, with a little bit of their own Crüe dirt added to the mix.

Bassman Nikki Sixx was the prime songwriter in the band, and he was able to create a collection of songs that play out like a stack of hard rocking singles one after another, without a weak track in sight. Incidentally, Crüe have just reformed for the hundredth time and are due on the road next year.
