10. The Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrK5u5W8afc Amazingly, yes; one of the most popular love songs of all time 'Unchained Melody', was a B-side. It was released in 1965 as supporting song to the single 'Hung On You'. Probably one of the most recognisable and powerful vocal performances in popular music, the song would reach number 4 in the Billboard chart. The song found new fame in 1990 when it was featured in the romantic film Ghost. (You know the scene). It would peak in the charts at number 13, despite receiving a lot of airplay. This was due to the fact that it was only available as a 45 RPM single in an era where CD's popularity was taking off. It remains one of the most critically acclaimed and most widely loved pop songs of all time and it's hard to believe it was a B-side.
