12 Best Closing Songs On Hard Rock Albums
4. Knights Of Cydonia - Muse
Muse have been one of the most consistent power trios operating in the rock world today. While the band have always had successful singles like "Uprising," they have approached their craft with albums in mind, with songs that blend together seemlessly. Though most of the band's records have stellar endings to them, everything reached its full capacity when they hit upon Black Holes and Revelations.
After going on a celestial trip through the stars, Muse takes us on one last ride with "Knights of Cydonia," which starts off like a twisted Western tune. As the band plays on with a galloping rhythm, the song's constant key changes keep you engaged as Matt Bellamy's guitar soars. Right when you think they're about to bring everything to a close, the band pull off three part harmonies right before going into one of the greatest riffs they have ever laid down.
The song does take a while to get going, but once that outro riff kicks in, the whole track feels like you're riding on a horse as planets wizz by your head. You may not have thought the a cowboy shootout in space was something you needed in your life, but Muse managed to make such a weird scenario sound like the greatest adventure in the world.
