12 Best Screamo Metal Bands Of All Time
8. Northlane
There has got to be something in the water over in Australia. The amount of talent that is being pumped out of the country into the metal genre is overwhelming. One such example is Sydney based Northlane.
Having found success with their second album, Northlane set out to tour relentlessly in support of the release. Yet uncertainty was on the horizon as frontman Adrian Fitipaldes announced he was leaving the group, citing health concerns.
Undergoing a change at frontman is a tough task for any band. For Northlane, the search lead to open auditions via the internet. Around 2000 applications came in and the group took as much time as they could, ensuring the right person got the position. Eventually, they settled on Marcus Bridge after being impressed by his video audition and released 'Rot' to coincide with the announcement.
Since the addition of Bridge, the group have strayed away from their metalcore roots in favour of an atmospheric, experimental sound. The addition of more electronics enabled Northlane to create something completely different to what they originally brought to the table. This was a well received change on the whole, with only a small percentage of fans dropping off.
Addressing recent issues within the band, the group have recently released a mini-documentary on YouTube. During the film, the members touch upon issues with management and financial troubles in the lead up to their most recent effort, as well as the tragic motivation behind Bridge's lyrics.
