12 Best Screamo Metal Bands Of All Time
7. A Day To Remember
It's difficult to find a single person who doesn't like at least one A Day To Remember song. Their trademark pop punk/hardcore blend has gained them fans across the globe and a career spanning nearly twenty years.
It could have went very differently for the group. In 2011, A Day To Remember went up against their own record label in a lengthy court battle. Wishing to leave Victory Records, they filed a suit when the label refused to release them from the contact, insisting the minimum 5 album term had not been reached. The group argued that two special edition rerelease albums contributed to the overall total, fulfilling the band's commitment. They also had a separate suit, attempting to claim $4 million in unpaid royalties from the label. After a gruelling five year ordeal, the juries found in favour of the band.
Once all the ugliness was out of the way, the band really found their stride. They adopted a DIY ethic for the following album, building their own recording studio and released 'Common Courtesy' in 2013 under their own label. Since the change, A Day To Remember have had immense success with sell out world tours and unique stage production. The Florida group are currently gearing up for their seventh album 'You're Welcome' sometime in 2020.
