12 Best Screamo Metal Bands Of All Time
6. Parkway Drive
Australian juggernauts Parkway Drive are currently enjoying the payoff of years and years of hard work. Since day one, the band worked hard to get their sound to as many people as possible. As documented in their excellent first DVD, they have been through hell to get to where they are now.
The group got their big break with the release of 'Horizons', which debuted at number six in the ARIA Charts. This was completely unheard of for an Australian band at the time. The album's success at home and oversees surprised everyone. Naturally, Parkway Drive did everything they could to capitalise on the records success and toured extensively over the next few years.
Since 'Horizons', Parkway Drive have went on to release another four albums. 2010's 'Deep Blue' and 2012's 'Atlas' both had reasonable levels of success, charting at number two and three, respectively.
The most recent records have been a departure from the tried and tested Parkway sound. Fans were shocked when, in June 2015, 'Vice Grip' was released. The first single from 'IRE' felt like a completely different band, showing off heavy influences from classic rock. The move caused a rift with existing fans, but proved to be a smart decision overall. 'IRE' debuted at number one on the ARIA charts, a feat also achieved by follow up album 'Revenant'.
