12 Hard Rock Band Members Who Switched Instruments
2. Dave Grohl - Nirvana/Foo Fighters/Etc...
Dave Grohl has made himself into one of the biggest rockstars working today. Ever since the 90's, Grohl has been trucking along as the frontman of the Foo Fighters, where he continues to bring stadium anthems to the masses. The amount of classics Grohl has under his belt in his own band almost makes you forget about his time as the crazy-haired lunatic in Nirvana.
Long before he gave the world hits like "Learn to Fly" and "Best Of You," Grohl was the last in a line of multiple drummers for the Seattle rockers. Even when he wasn't up front, Grohl certainly made his presence known with some of the most classic drum breaks of the era on songs like "Smells Like Teen Spirit." Since he was already writing songs by the end of Nirvana's tenure, it would have been interesting to hear what the Foos' early material would have sounded like as Nirvana tracks had Kurt Cobain not left us in 1994.
Once he formed his next amazing project, Grohl has continued to lend his drumming skills to many different rock acts, jamming with everyone from Nine Inch Nails to Queens of the Stone Age to Paul McCartney. He may have been known as just a drummer in the early days, but Dave Grohl has built himself up with one of the best resumes in modern rock.
