6. My Chemical Romance Reunion Record
Last year, it felt like the entire emo scene was set on fire once My Chemical Romance announced a reunion show and tour. This band had laid dormant for the better half of a decade and were now ready to kick everything back into high gear yet again. While the shows themselves have been amazing, it will be even more fantastic once these four punks from Jersey drop a new record.
At the time of their breakup, vocalist Gerard Way defended the band's idea to split as just being realistic and not wanting to cheat their fans with something they would think is subpar. It's a fair and nuanced argument for sure, but MCR always felt like a band who had so much more to give to the rock community at the time of their breakup. They had already created a modern classic with the Black Parade and were even starting to branch out into more experimental territory on Danger Days.
Each of the members of the band like Way and guitarist Frank Iero have created great stuff in their solo outfits, but it won't have that unique spark until everyone from MCR is brought back into the fold again. It seemed to be impossible for My Chemical Romance to reunite, but since it finally happened, maybe they could pull off one more miracle and start writing some new tunes.
