12 Hugely Anticipated Hard Rock Albums Coming In 2020 (And Beyond)
4. Metallica's In-House Album
Ever since St. Anger, it seems like Metallica take an eternity when it comes to releasing albums. While Death Magnetic and Hardwired to Self Destruct have been solid efforts from the metal giants, there wasn't anything that was necessarily reinventing the wheel by the band's usual standards. Based on what the band has been saying though, the next album may be here sooner than we think.
While doing press for the band's tour, Rob Trujillo had said that they are still fresh from touring and have even come up with a few potential song ideas that could end up on their next record. The pandemic may have an effect on how long we'll have to wait, but Lars Ulrich has assured metalheads not to worry. According to the drummer and de facto spokesman, Metallica may even be able to cut most of the new album while under quarantine, with them even releasing an acoustic version of "Blackened" on social media already.
With the band speeding their normal process between records, this new album may be a new look for the band, which opens up a world of possibilities from collaborations with the Big 4 bands to giving Kirk Hammett a bigger chance to shine. Even if it's just a typical thrash affair, Metallica have always had the songwriting prowess that put them a cut above the rest.
