12 Most Divisive Rock Albums Of All Time
11. Humanz - Gorillaz
Gorillaz have been one of the most interesting alternative bands in recent memory. With mastermind Damon Albarn combining new and interesting genres together, there seemed to be no limit to what this virtual band could do. While it seemed like an eternity since the band's proper 2010 album Plastic Beach, their next effort Humanz seemed a lot more hit and miss than many would have anticipated.
On one hand, a lot of the features on the album are some of the best in years, with Vince Staples doing a great job at starting the fire on "Ascension" and De La Soul returning for the endlessly fun "Momentz." However, the album also has its low points, from the shoddy production in some spots to the needless interlude tracks that just make the album drag on for longer than it needs to.
Given its hit or miss nature, it also doesn't help matters that the album is insanely long, with the deluxe editions of the album stretching it into 34 tracks. Though the album is filled to the brim with good material, it probably would have fared much better if Albarn and co. had made it into a concise single album release. There's a great Gorillaz record in here somewhere, but you might need to sift through some boring stuff to get there.
