12 Most Hated Rock Albums Of All Time
9. Music From The Elder - KISS
KISS was never a band that you had to think too hard about. Whereas most other bands of the 70's had a more heady bent to their work, it was easy to just throw on a record by these makeup-wearing maniacs and just rock out for an hour. Once you see the band getting serious though, you know something is terribly wrong.
After the post disco era of the band left fans clamoring for a return to form, drummer Peter Criss was sent packing while the group searched for a new direction. In one of the most ill-advised moments of their career, the band decided that the best way to reconnect with their fans was to release a conceptual piece to show how much they had grown as players and writers.
What unfolded was Music From the Elder, a half-baked runthrough of songs revolving around one man's search to become the Chosen One. With guitarist Ace Frehley having one foot out the door, this album marked the lowpoint of the band's golden age. Although the band would bounce back from this album with the ultra-heavy Creatures of the Night, at the time, this was the sound of the biggest band of the 70's becoming way too pretentious for their own good.
