12 Most OVERRATED Hard Rock Bands Of All Time
4. Ted Nugent
For as long as he's been around, Ted Nugent has had a lot of great things to say about...well...Ted Nugent. Ever since he broke onto the scene with the Amboy Dukes, Nugent has been bringing his version of heavy rock to the masses with the blunt force of a buffalo. Over the years though, those rose-tinted glasses from the 70's can't mask some of Nugent's earlier work.
Granted, Ted Nugent is far from being a bad musician. On the contrary, songs like "Stranglehold" still hold up today for containing some of the most indelible riffs of the era. However, the alpha dog attitude that Nugent has developed has done nothing to enhance his reputation as of late. Regardless of what his stance on politics is, Nugent often markets himself as one of the greatest in the genre, when in reality his greatest moments can typically be boiled down to a handful of songs.
Even though Nugent make have more filler songs in his catalog than most of his contemporaries, that hasn't stopped his fanbase from lining up to see the wild man in action year after year. Ted has definitely proven himself to be a true road dog, but that relentless energy and ego has come at the expense of his songwriting skills.
