12 Perfect Classic Rock Albums With NO Bad Songs
4. Let It Bleed - The Rolling Stones
Towards the end of the '60s, the Rolling Stones were clearly a different band than the bad boys that we had gotten to know at the beginning of the British Invasion. Even though their trademark nasty behavior hadn't gone anywhere, you could feel the weariness in their souls on albums like Beggars Banquet, almost as if they were getting tired of the whirlwind they had been through the past few years. It turns out that was only a lead up to the darkness though.
Across Let It Bleed, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards truly started to transform into the bluesy souls that they always wanted to be, crafting songs that were a lot darker than what you would hear on the radio at the time. While the rest of the world was still on the peace and love hype train, you had the Stones coming out with songs like Gimme Shelter and You Can't Always Get What You Want, each of which show the seedier sides of love and what can happen if you take things too far.
Compared to the garage rock that was coming out of the States at the time, Let It Bleed makes Steppenwolf look like kids stuff. These were rock and rollers who were just on the verge of exile and hanging on by their fingernails.
