12 PERFECT Metal Albums With NO Bad Songs
11. Rust In Peace - Megadeth
Throughout the '80s, Dave Mustaine's mission statement was to beat Metallica at their own game. After being ousted from the thrash metal giants just before their debut album, Mustaine formed Megadeth to create a band big enough to surpass his metal brethren. Albums like Peace Sells and So Far So Good So What may have been a nice start, but Rust in Peace was the moment where everything clicked.
Hooking up with guitarist Marty Friedman and drummer Nick Menza, the band had one of their all-time greatest lineups, where they proceeded to make incredible cuts like "Hangar 18" and "Take No Prisoners." Though the sound may have still been pure thrash metal, this is about as much concentrated kickass as you can get, with solo runs that are almost mathematically precise.
Even the album cuts like "Tornado of Souls" are practically thrash metal 101, with Friedman ripping out one of the most impressive solos of his entire career. While Metallica might have classics under their belt, songs like "Holy Wars" can hold its own when put up next to something like "Master of Puppets."
Metallica may have come out as the more popular band by the start of the '90s, but Rust in Peace showed that Megadeth were going to be around for a long, long time.
