12 PERFECT Metal Albums With NO Bad Songs
10. Reign In Blood - Slayer
The '80s will forever be known as the era when metal got pitch black. Whereas the start of the genre in the early '70s had been a bit ominous for some to bear, the arrival of thrash metal took the logical next step into darker territory. There may have been hair metal gracing the charts, but Slayer was showing everyone what the power of metal could really do.
Though the band already had a few solid offerings under their belt, their savage assault on the senses with Reign in Blood will forever be known as their masterpiece. With only 10 songs across just under a half hour, this album never lets up, with "Angel of Death" throwing you into the deepest depths of Hell with no hope for remorse in sight.
From the fast paced assault of "Necrophobic" to the final blast of aggression on "Raining Blood," it feels like the band are less concerned with playing beautiful music and more interested in using you as a sonic speedbag, where they continue to pound the hell out of your eardrums.
The band gained more than a few detractors for the sheer heaviness of this album, but if you're the least bit interested in the heavy side of music, this is the Unholy Bible.
