12 PERFECT Metal Albums With NO Bad Songs
5. 10,000 Days - Tool
A band like Tool is something that you only get once in a lifetime. With only a handful of albums to their name, the band have created some of the greatest brain-melting music metal has to offer, from the brutal savagery of Undertow to the prog rock experimentation of Lateralus.
Either of those records deserve a place in your collection, but the band's sendoff for their classic period with 10,000 Days was where the real depth comes in.
Though there are no bad songs across this album, this a record best taken in as a whole rather than individual pieces. While something like "The Pot" and "Vicarious" may have some impressive moments on their own, the best parts of this record are when the band makes extended sonic suites out of their songs, like on the tale of a man tripping on drugs outside of Area 51 on songs like "Rosetta Stoned" and "Lipan Conjuring."
Along with the more nutty ideas, this is also the band's most heartfelt record, with songs like the title track and "Wings for Marie" depicting frontman Maynard James Keenan grieving over the loss of his mother to cancer.
Tool had already established their ability to rip your soul to shreds on their previous efforts, but the execution of this record brought them from one of the greatest metal bands to the most forward-looking minds in hard rock.
