12 Things Only Nine Inch Nails Fans Would Understand
7. The Meathead Perspective
For near on a decade online satirist Meathead and his Meathead Perspective was cracking smiles in the most unlikely of places: the pasty faces of the world's Nine Inch Nails fan community. We're not big on smiles. Or community. But we were big on Meat. It takes a peculiar kind of mind to spit out post after post so laser-focused on a single artist, but Meathead wasn't just prolific... he was consistently bloody brilliant. This really was the sort of thing that only true fans would have gotten a kick out of. A gargantuan chronicle of crudely-animated Flash cartoons, borderline-offensive Photoshop scribblings and lengthy Reznor-bedevilled ramblings laced with puerile yet impeccable wit, this was a painfully insightful stab at the heart of a fan base heavily preoccupied with NIN. Normal people would have skipped through much of it like it's written in a foreign language, but for anyone with a love for the Rez and his projects, The Meathead Perspective was truly spray-your-coffee-out-your-nose funny. When he decided to mothball his keyboard in 2009 we breathed a collective sigh of melancholic farewell, but the Meat lives on through the archive which still resides over at the NIN Hotline. If you're new to the Church Of Reznor, you really need to hop over there and give it a read. All of it.
Game-obsessed since the moment I could twiddle both thumbs independently. Equally enthralled by all the genres of music that your parents warned you about.
