12 Worst Sellout Albums In Hard Rock
10. Path Of Totality - Korn
Out of all the nu metal schlock that came out of the 90's and 2000's, there were tons of great material to be found in that scene. For as much as the rock community likes to rag on the rap-metal hybrid nowadays, bands like Korn were actually pushing the genre forward with their weird detunings and Jonathan Davis' slightly demented vocal delivery.
On the other hand, these guys who defined the genre back in the 90's seemed really behind the times 2 decades down the road. Though later albums like Untitled and See You On the Other Side had some pretty heavy material, Path of Totality is the one release that left most Korn fans a little underwhelmed. Compared to the band's abrasive sound in years past, this lazy attempt at an electronic hybrid took every single dubstep cliche of the times and crammed them into a huge sonic mess.
There's nothing wrong with working like DJs like Skrillex on principle, but the pairing was clunky from the start, with this album being nothing but those misguided collaborations. Korn was able to overcome this album on later releases, but Path of Totality seems like a little blemish on their catalog when compared to the other excellent albums they've made.
