2. Waveshaper - Station Nova (2016)
Much like the FarCry and Hotline Miami games, Waveshaper owes a lot of recent success from smash hit, boss rush game, Furi. Which , if you haven't played, you really should.
Waveshaper's songs appear a number of times throughout the game, as you move from arena to arena. Each track is picked for its upbeat and frenetic pacing, acting as a emphatic soundtrack to get those fingers twitching and heart racing.
And it's not hard to see why the artist was included, given the body of work he's put out over the last six years or so. But as we're only focusing on a single album per artist, it has to be 2016's Station Nova.
Channeling all things retro, from B movie visions of the future, to techno pioneers Kraftwerk, everything on this album screams future vintage. Future Vision wouldn't sound out of place in Logan's Run, with its simple notes and upbeat backing melody.
But standout track has to be Pixel Stars, a collaboration with fellow syth artist Robert Parker: An airy yet upbeat pairing between the two.
