15 Best Disturbed Tracks
3. Land Of Confusion
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YV4oYkIeGJcNo list of Disturbed’s greatest musical compositions is complete without including the best cover song they’ve ever done: arguably the biggest hit from their 2005 album ‘Ten Thousand Fists’, Land of Confusion.
Though the lyrics on this cover remain almost identical to the original Genesis composition, a few key differences remain, such as replacing the line ‘and the sound of your laughter’ with ‘in the wake of this madness’ to fit Disturbed’s overall theme more accurately. Other than that, Disturbed do a masterful job of keeping to the original song while still giving it enough elements to make the cover song their own.
Of course, this song’s awesomeness cannot be understood without watching the accompanying music video. Directed by Todd McFarlane (of ‘Spawn’ fame) the cartoon music video brings the band’s mascot, known as ‘The Guy’, to life like never before. The video captured all the core elements of Disturbed’s musical message: resistance to corrupt authority, disgust with oppressive governments, and the idea that the individual CAN make a difference in this world.
Words don’t do it justice; this cover proved that Disturbed was a lot more multi-talented than many initially suspected.
Best lyrics:
“This is the world we live in,
And these are the hands we're given,
Use them and let's start trying,
To make it a place worth living in”
