14. Children Of Bodom - Screaming For Silence (2:24)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uI2zH7KgGg8 Singer-shredder Alexi Laiho is quite the remarkable talent - he just doesn't seem to want to put too many albums out too fast (although as of April 7th there's finally a followup coming from 2013's Halo of Blood). Speaking of Halo though, what an incredible showcase of Laiho and his band's talent it is. The core sensibility of his song-composition has been to harken back to the days of the 80's and the windswept 'one man playing to the heavens' style that rock's greatest moments were built on. Screaming for Silence is a cracking track all the way through, but it's the lead-in to the solo that's a callback to how Lynyrd Skynyrd's Free Bird solo kicks in, not to mention Eric Johnson's Cliffs of Dover getting a reprise midway through just to round things off nicely.
