Well, when it works, it works in a HUGE way, and although he does resort to noodling his way through a million frets a second on pretty much every track or improvised session these days, Angel of Mercy is the sort of song that reminds you why he's such an incredible talent in the first place. Rather like Sold My Soul or Road Back Home from his Book of Shadows solo album, Zakk has the pace and setup nailed down for any ballad-turned-rager, and when he turns up the heat and fires out a number of runs following a perfect build-up, there's still nothing like it.
