15 Best Rock Songs About Growing Up
8. What's My Age Again? - Blink-182
Of all the songs Blink-182 have released in their time, none sums up the band quite like their 1999 release, What's My Age Again?. After all, the group is notorious for having something of a Peter Pan complex, dead set on remaining immature for their entire lives.
This song, however, tells us that while staying young forever does seem appealing, it still has its thorn. It's centred around the reflections of a 23-year-old man who simply refuses to grow up. He constantly acts about ten years younger, juvenile pranks and all. When his peers tell him he needs to act is age, he can't even seem to recall what his age actually is.
This song, believe it or not, was crafted lovingly. It is incredibly melodic, and contains one of the catchiest choruses in Blink's entire discography. Moreover, while the narrator is obviously flawed, he tells his story in such an earnest, sincere way that you can't help but root for him.
Ultimately, his behaviour costs him his significant other. Despite this, he stands by his lifestyle. He explains that he still has his whole life ahead of him to grow up, so why should he do it while he's still young?
