15 Best Rock Songs About Growing Up

7. Summer Of '69 - Bryan Adams

In Bryan Adams' hit song, Summer Of '69, the narrator recounts his teenage days. He discusses starting his first band with friends of his from school, only for said band to break up shortly thereafter as a result of interference from the other members' personal lives.

The majority of the song after this is dedicated to remembering what appears to be a young romance that failed to fully materialize and presumably ended in quick fashion, despite the couple's contrary promises to each other.

In addition, this is an incredibly relaxing song to listen to. The kind you could play while lounging around on a summer's day or taking a leisurely car ride. It's a singable, light-hearted track that's just very easy to enjoy, especially to those who can identify with the lyrics.

Despite the lows and shortcomings, the narrator still describes the time as the best of his life. This is seemingly due to the simple fact that while things didn't always go his way in his youth, he still enjoyed having the freedom to make mistakes and live freely, something he no longer fully has in adulthood. It's a happy song that become more bittersweet the more you think about it.
