In 2008, Travis Barker was caught in a chartered plane crash that took the lives of four people and left the musician and his friend DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) with serious burns and PTSD. 65% of Travis Barkers body was burnt, and tragically, Goldstein overdosed on a mixture of prescription drugs and cocaine a year later, leaving the drummer as the sole survivor.

Although the band were split up at this point, Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge were immediately there to support Barker in the healing process.

With the time spent together following the crash, the band reunited and decided to reform, announcing their return from hiatus a few months later at the 2009 Grammy awards. They embarked on a tour later that year, however as a result of Barker’s fear of flying the drummer will only travel by bus domestically or ocean liners for international concerts.

The iconic trio only went on to make one more album together in 2011 before Tom left the band, but at least they're still active.
