7. All The Small Things' Parody Video Came True
All The Small Things spawned one of the most famous music videos of the 1990s as blink-182 made fun of all the pop tropes that had taken over the mainstream. There were scenes in terrible white suits, backing dancers in airport hangars, clichéd beach running and slow motion windswept epics just like the terrible videos that MTV played constantly.
Blink-182 made fun of the likes of Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, NYSYNC and Ricky Martin, and created one of the most recognisable music videos even to this day.
And the best part? History repeated itself with the brilliance that couldn’t be written.
11 years later, One Direction would film on the exact same beach that Blink used in the All The Small Things video – doing the kind of saccharine ‘emotional’ boy band activities that make them dreamboats to the younger generation.
Clearly some things will never change, but at least we can still make fun of them.
