15 Greatest Queen Songs Of All Time
2. Bohemian Rhapsody
From: A Night At the Opera (1975)
A vocal harmony intro, a ballad section, followed by an operatic passage, followed again by a hard rock section, and concluded with a reflexive coda? Talk about a bizarre mixture of musical styles. But "Bohemian Rhapsody" pulled it off, and then some.
You probably expected this to be #1. After all, it’s everywhere. No classic rock station can go a day without playing “Bohemian Rhapsody” at least once, if not five times. Or ten. Or 100. It’s been featured in dozens of movies, and some artists have been insane enough to actually cover it. But “Bohemian Rhapsody” is one of those tunes that cannot be sung by anyone other than Mercury and co. It’s like if anyone sung “Stairway to Heaven” other than Robert Plant, or “Smells Like Teen Spirit” other than Kurt Cobain. Those tracks are synonymous with their respective bands, and should never be touched by anyone else.
You've all heard this track a million times, so there's use in going on here, but you may be wondering why it's not #1. That's because, believe it or not, there is one Queen track worthy of dethroning it.
