15 Greatest Queen Songs Of All Time

9. Killer Queen

Queen Bohemian Rhapsody
EMI

From: Sheer Heart Attack (1974)

“Stone Cold Crazy” may be the most “rocking” track from Sheer Heart Attack, but the greatest, and without a doubt most famous tune from that album is “Killer Queen”.

Penned by Mercury, “Killer Queen” isn’t as complex or as hummable as other Queen songs, but the smooth tempo, combined with Mercury’s vocals and piano playing will draw anyone in, and lead them to that infectious chorus. That chorus also makes this tune one of the most re-listenable songs in all of Queen’s repertoire.

The song is slower in pace from other Queen tracks, but that’s part of the beauty of it. It also performed well on the charts, and helped put the band in the spotlight, and they had a unique musical approach that set them apart from their contemporaries, like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.

The song has also been a great influence on one of modern music’s most successful artists, Katy Perry.
