15 Hilariously Awful Songs Released In The Name Of Charity

3. Band Aid II - Do They Know It's Christmas?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhRskeYQue4 Five years after Bob Geldof (and the often overlooked Midge Ure) gathered the cream of the chart-topping crop for the original Band Aid, Geldof asked Pete Waterman €“ who, with the help of Mike Stock and Matt Aitken, had basically written every song in the Top 40 €“ to record and produce a sequel. Following a news report introduction from Michael Burke informing us that 1984's single and 1985's concerts had not ended world hunger (we were so sure!), Band Aid II was a much more upbeat number, featuring acts including Kylie & Jason, Sonia and Cliff Richard and a lot more dancing. (Mainly from Bros and much to the amusement of Bananarama, the only act to have also appeared on the original) . Although it did top the charts for four weeks, it would be another fifteen years before Geldof got over how bad it really was. (The song, not the situation.) Oh, and which legend dared to brave Bono's line from the original? Two of them actually; Jason Donovan and Matt Goss. Tonight thank God it was them instead of Sir Cliff.
