15 Hilariously Awful Songs Released In The Name Of Charity

10. Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Run The World/Status Quo: Running All Over The World

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvc2tXEgvx4 The 1980s produced not one but two awful puns for re-recorded hits in aid of Comic Relief's fitter other half, Sport Relief. In 1988, Status Quo switched from "rocking" to "running all over the world", while two years earlier Tears For Fears accused everybody of wanting to "run" the world, rather than "rule". Which doesn't really work when you realise that in this instance, 'run' could just be another world for rule. When asked about why they chose to take part, Roland Orzabal was fairly honest: "...to get Bob Geldof off our backs! He gave us so much gip for not turning up at Live Aid. All those millions of people dying, it was our fault. I felt terrible. I tell you, I know how Hitler must have felt." There's nothing like admitting that the only reason you'd give up your time for charity is because of guilt, and comparing yourself to one of the most hated men in history. What happened to sowing the seeds of love, Roland? Suddenly, Billy Mack's Christmas Is All Around from Love Actually doesn't seem so bad.
