Hip-hop has had its fair share of aggressive and gifted female vocalists, but few have inspired the same awe as the spikily brilliant Junglepussy (who probably grabs the award for best pseudonym on the list). She's been lauded by the likes of Lil Kim and Erykah Badu, spoken up for QTPoC cultures, and received nominations for XXL Mag's "Freshmen" 2015 list. A master of twerking and possessor of one of the finest flows in the game today, she admits to primarily writing lyrics when she's mad. It shows. Stitches is "an ode to staying the f*ck away from her man", and will scare anyone off ever having an affair. Her 2014 album Satisfaction Guaranteed swells and flows with a rollicking hunger that doesn't let up from start to finish. While more famous contemporaries like Tink and Dej Loaf may be lapping up most of the (unfortunately limited) plaudits afforded to female hip-hop stars at the moment, Junglepussy is raging in the background, creating music and drawing on lyrical themes that outshine those around her. Working with gifted producers like Shy Guy and sporting lines like "I just want to be free/Swinging my t*tties from tree to tree/Sipping ginger tea and Hennessey/Looking good without a weave", Junglepussy is making real waves in the underground.
