15 Love Songs For Valentine's Day

13. Daft Punk €“ Something About Us

http://youtu.be/sOS9aOIXPEk You can laugh at this, but there was a time in my life where I wanted this song to be played during the first dance at my wedding. I announced it to a friend in the back garden of our student house, at God knows what time in the morning, and eventually the swine came around to the idea. It's considerably likely he'll be married long before me. The thief. Sigh. Anyway, back story aside, this is possibly one of Daft Punk's most simplistic songs, but is also their most delicate. A subdued funk bass plays consistently underneath melancholic, yet romantic, synths, and laidback disco guitar. The final verse earnestly sells it all though; 'I need you more than anything in my life/I want you more than anything in my life/I'll miss you more than anyone in my life/I love you more than anyone in my life.'

12. Nick Cave €“ Into My Arms

http://youtu.be/LnHoqHscTKE I think only Nick Cave could create such a tender and moving love song, that simultaneously brings into question the existence of a God. Well, in his opening line Mr Cave states that he does not believe in God but he knows that the lady he loves does. Over the course of this touching piano ballad Cave simply states that if an 'interventionist' God were to exist, he would simply ask him not to intervene with his love, unless it was to guide her into his arms. Through the song he questions his disbelief in angels, in respect of his lady's beauty, finally coming to the conclusion that he may not believe in God, he does believe in love, and he knows she does too.
