4. Creedence Clearwater Revival - Green River (29:25)
The first river that really forced fans of rock music to take this band from California seriously. Green River solidified CCR as a distinctive band with a bit of an edge. Their brand of swamp rock took shape in a major way with songs like "Commotion," "Sinister Purpose," and the title track. Lead songwriter John Fogerty crafts gem after gem in this tightly-constructed track list. There's not an ounce of fat to be found on Green River, as thankfully the band moved beyond their fondness for guitar noodling and six-minute jams. That never really worked for CCR. But "Bad Moon Rising?" That works. That works so good. A Little Taste: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvpaDUYmn8Q
