Though a lot of the albums on this list are both short and ferocious (with speedily aggressive melodies used to cram as much music into the release as possible), Nick Drake really takes his time with the songs on his final album, Pink Moon. He's in no rush for it to be over. It just kind of happens that way. Drake's voice is breathy and murmured. The melodies are calm, the anguish palpable but almost serene. Pink Moon will hold you tight while it whispers in your ear that you should run far, far away, lest you drown in the waves of melancholia and resign yourself to your bed for the week.
