15 Most Underrated Bands Of The 90s

4. Better Than Ezra

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1is_xvVFqd8 Better Than Ezra was never quite poppy enough to ride up the mainstream charts alongside contemporaries Gin Blossoms and Goo Goo Dolls, nor did they have a sludgy enough sound to fit in with the heavier alt-rock crowd. Instead, they bobbed and weaved between both sounds rather seamlessly, which resulted in some of the finest rock albums of the mid-to-late 90s. Unfortunately, that propensity for slipping between the worlds was also the reason they slipped right through so many listener's hands. Sure, "Good" was a big hit, and anyone old enough to wipe their own ass at some point in the 90s should know "Rosealia" and "Desperately Wanting," but they never achieved the consistent success they deserved. The fact that so many "serious" fans of 90s alternative have never heard How Does Your Garden Grow? in its entirety is blasphemous. That album alone, experimental enough to stretch their sound without overindulging in electronica and art rock that was popular at the time, deserves to boost Better Than Ezra above most of their peers from the era. Luckily for those who missed them the first time around, these guys are still doing their thing.
