10. One Hot Minute - Red Hot Chili Peppers
After the Red Hot Chili Peppers blew up with their epic Blood Sugar Sex Magik, you'd think that the band were reaching one of the highest points of their career. However, the band may have been doing well from a financial standpoint, but the personal relationships in the group were getting out of control.
Being completely uncomfortable with the new level of fame, guitarist John Frusciante got hooked on heroin and ended up quitting the band minutes before they were due to take the stage in Japan. Once the band returned, they quickly picked up guitarist Dave Navarro from Jane's Addiction and recorded the follow-up One Hot Minute.
Many die hard Chilis fans hated this record from the get-go, complaining that it didn't have the same kind of fun that the previous record had. Upon further inspection though, this is actually one of the band's greatest releases, with some of the most moody tracks they would ever write like "Warped" and "Transcending." Navarro's entrance into the fold also made for some fantastic guitar accentuations that played off Anthony Kiedis' lyrical flow. For those who have only heard songs like "Aeroplane", do yourself a favor and uncover the gold mine of tracks hidden in this record.
