6. 2Cellos Perform Smooth Criminal
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mx0xCI1jaUM Michael Jackson had a ton of hits over his career and one of his most popular after "Beat It," "Bad" and "Billie Jean" had to be "Smooth Criminal." The original reached #2 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart but never hit #1 on any of the US charts. There have been plenty of covers of the song over the years, including one by Nu Metal band Alien Ant Farm which did manage to hit #1 on the US Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. The Croation duo of Luka Šuli and Stjepan Hauser, known as 2Cellos, uploaded their above video to YouTube and wound up being discovered and signed to the Sony Masterworks label. There are no vocals, it's entire the two cellos providing all the music in this and really, the cello is an underappreciated instrument in rock. It was hard to choose which cover song of theirs to feature as they have so many great ones. If you enjoy this one, then look for their covers of "Highway to Hell" and "Smells Like Teen Spirit," you won't be disappointed.
