15 Things Only Bruce Springsteen Fans Will Understand

13. Why He Had To Go Solo

Springsteen's decision to go solo in the late 1980's was meant with mass disappointment amongst his fans. The E Street Band were a vital part of the package and they had made the music that had changed their lives. They didn't want to see him and the E Street Band go their separate ways. But they understood why they had to. This was something Bruce had to do and, given the quality of Bruce's previous solo venture Nebraska, fans had reason to be optimistic. The period between Bruce's breakup with the E Street Band and the reunion tour in '99 is often seen as a point where interest in Bruce's career was at an all-time low but his fans stuck with him and supported him through his solo ventures.
