15 Things Only DJs Will Understand

12. Being Asked To Play At Weddings

Getting stupid requests for completely inappropriate music half way through a set is one thing - explaining how much you hate One Direction and deflecting the subsequent tirade of abuse is an experience which never goes away. Being asked to play at completely inappropriate venues is something else entirely. There's a big difference between playing in a club and spinning a few classics at someone's wedding, and most DJs who do the former for a living are hardly going to give up their Saturday night so they can watch grandma breaking her hip to Agadoo while the grandchildren vomit after eating too much buffet. If you can't get your head around the fact that a jungle DJ doesn't have the music for a wedding - and certainly doesn't have the inclination to play at one - then you should probably pass on the organizing duties to someone else.
