OK, so he doesn't have the technical wizardry or some metal guitarists, or arguably even the emotional power of the gods of rock. But Mick Mars throws out huge riffs, gorgeous solos and chugging bridges with absolute ease and unbelievable regularity. Kickstart My Heart is still one of the best rock/metal guitar tracks around, while his work on tracks like All I Need is just gorgeous. The real reason why Mick is the best guitarist around though, as all of his fans know, is because he technically shouldn't even still be breathing - let alone kicking ass on stage night after night. His ankylosing spondylitis basically renders him close to paralytic, with his frozen spine and arthritic pelvis causing him severe and constant pain. On many occasions he's been told he has next to no time left to live, yet he soldiers on repeatedly. He doesn't even take painkillers. Mick isn't just the bravest guy in Mötley Crüe - he's the toughest motherf****r in rock n' roll. That's why Crüe fans see him as the best guitarist in the world.
