15 Things Only Slipknot Fans Will Understand

10. Being Heavy Doesn't Just Mean Distortion And Screaming

OK, so Slipknot's first two albums were incredibly heavy thrash-oriented releases from start to finish (save for a few incredibly dark atmospheric pieces). But from "Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses" onwards the band has started to explore what it means to make "heavy" music without the use of excessive distortion, blast-beats and screamed vocals. Some of Slipknot's acoustic tracks are amongst their best compositions - and they're songs that even people that can't stand extreme music can enjoy! "Circle", "Vermilion Pt. 2", "Snuff", "If Rain Is What You Want"... The list is growing rapidly. Perhaps one day there will be an all-acoustic Slipknot show. Somehow I doubt that.
