18 Things Only Slash Fans Will Understand

17. Trying To Keep Up With His Fingers Is Impossible

There's a 'zone' that Slash goes into whenever he's improvising some sections live; it's that unmistakeable feeling like time is dilating all around you, but he's still firing through scales at a million frets a minute. In more recent tours we've seen this sort of thing busted out when Slash and Myles' tackle old school classic Rocket Queen. Some sections are extended far beyond what they originally were, only to be filled perfectly by Slash working the entire neck before returning to the notes we know and love from the original recording.

16. He Knows How To Make An Awesomely Honest Music Video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZNH0sBmbRI From the title track to second teaser Bent to Fly and more recently 30 Years to Life it's looking as if World on Fire is going to be one of his finest works since Contraband, not to mention one of the best rock records of the decade. The official video for the first single is the only accompanying visual we've got to all the songs - and it's completely ridiculous in the most fun way possible. Seemingly shot on a few handheld cameras, World on Fire's video is literally just an excuse to celebrate the rockstar-tinged times gone by, whilst also delivering one of the most ferocious riffs Slash has laid down in quite some time. From a beautiful naked woman to liberal amounts of fire, blood and smoke, it's like some surreal album cover come to life. Sure the whole thing is immature and it's definitely incensed a few boob-fearing Youtubers, but we can't deny Slash and his production company just saying "F*** it" and shooting a brilliantly simple-yet-appealing video for their latest single.
