1975: 10 Songs You Need To Hear Before Their New Album Drops

8. Is There Somebody Who Can Watch You?

The band's debut LP finishes not with a bang, but with a soft piano ballad.

"Is There Somebody Who Can Watch You?" was written by Matty Healy during a highly-volatile time in his life.

In late 2012, mere months before the band would begin their rise to fame, he was still living at home with his parents. As the year drew to a close, Matty finally made the decision to leave home, informed partially by the success of The 1975, and partially by the fact that his parents were going through a divorce.

Parents splitting up is never easy on a child, but when both of your parents are in the spotlight (and you yourself are on the cusp of fame), one can only imagine how tough this must have been.

However, as all musicians do, he put his feelings into song. And "Is There Somebody Who Can Watch You?" was born.

In the song, Matty talks about the struggles of balancing life with divorced parents ("We should ring dad more") and expresses his worries that, when he moves away, there will be no one to keep an eye on his parents.

Unexpected, but beautiful. The perfect way to close an album.
