1975: 10 Songs You Need To Hear Before Their New Album Drops

5. Lostmyhead

As with every great band, the time had come for The 1975 to record a weird avant-garde song.

The result of this mandated move was "Lostmyhead" (which is alloneword), a 5 minute long malestrom of noise, emotion, and, very occasionally, Matt Healy singing.

The song comes off the back of "Please Be Naked", an instrumental piece that perfectly sets the scene for this moody track. "Lostmyhead" has just four lines of vocals, but the beauty of it lies in the fantastic crescendo of music that finishes the song off.

A swell of electronic warbling and an almost tidal effect slowly builds to a piercing guitar solo over the top of the band's trademark punchy drums. It's sort of the music that says so much with no words. Longing, anxiety, a sad appreciation for life, love, and everything.

It's exactly what you'd expect from this band in a single relentless onslaught. Despite their varied catalogue, there is still a distinctive 1975 sound that fans can latch onto, with or without lyrics.

This song is weird, don't get us wrong, but it's also really, really good.
