1975: 10 Songs You Need To Hear Before Their New Album Drops
6. She's American
Of the seven singles (yes, you read that right) released from the band's second album, this is the only one we're featuring on our list.
Whilst tracks like "The Sound" and "Somebody Else" are fantastic, this list is meant to show off a side of the group you don't often see.
Enter "She's American".
The 1975's take on a transatlantic love song is as hilarious as it is unconventional.
Lines like "I think she's got a gun divinely decreed and custom made" perfectly capture the stereotypical view that Brits have of the States, whilst "If she says I've got to fix my teeth" does the opposite.
The song is also famous for its music video - or lack thereof. Despite teasing its release numerous times (including posting footage from the shoot on Twitter), the video has never come out.
The band's manager, Jamie Oborne, tweeted in 2016 that the video was probably never going to be released and some have speculated that the results of the 2016 US Election made them rethink their plan.
Music video or not, "She's American" is fun, upbeat, and full of great lines. It doesn't change the world, but it will get stuck in your head.
