20 Best Album Covers Of 2021

9. MF DOOM & Czarface - Super What?

It’s crazy to think that as much as this one feels like a prototypical DOOM cover, in reality, almost none of his projects ever featured anything resembling it (the closest ones would be Operation: Doomsday and Venomous Villain). It’s actually more in line with the rest of Czarface’s artworks, which often nail that classic Marvel/DC style.

Super What?'s deceptively elaborate artwork has to be the pick of the bunch though. Comics-inspired artworks feel like they should be a safe shot at a good cover, but they’re no guarantee (*ahem, ahem* Lootpack’s Soundpieces…) In this case, the details on both characters, the use of perspective, the colouring: it’s all executed to perfection.

It’s a cover that captures both acts’ love of pop culture, a fine tribute to their larger-than-life personas (especially in the case of DOOM) and an intrinsically dope piece of drawing.
