When Jamie XX surprised the world and came out with a spectacular remix album with poet Gil Scott-Heron – the magnificent We're New Here – it made music lovers realise that the Londoner was more than just a guy who was good at making drum patterns on a beat machine. He was actually a pretty damn good producer too.

So when he announced that he was releasing his first proper solo effort called In Colour, expectations were staggeringly high for the 26-year-old. Luckily for him and for us, pressure doesn't seem to phase him very much as he's produced a wonderful record that's probably become a soundtrack for the summer for most people.

From the outrageously catchy track Good Times featuring memorable guest spots from rapper Young Thug and dancehall legend Popcaan to songs like Gosh which evoke memories of the British dance scene Jamie grew up in, In Colour envelopes listeners in the sort of feel good vibes that will keep it in heavy rotation for a long, long time.
